How to Choose Professions

In TBC, people get bonuses with a certain Profession. Choosing the right and appropriate profession helps advancement of a character.

Mining: Increases the health maximum by 300.
Skinning:

Increases Critical strike ranks by 15. Not meaningful for Warlocks since they are not suitable for this profession.

Herbalism: Recovers 1200 Health per 5 sec with 3 min cooldown.

" Gathering " professions are all rewarded with certain increased attributes. However these rewards wither away before those of "Production" professions. As a matter of fact, gathering mainly aims at making gold in stead of rewards.

Alchemy:

After patch 3.0, as a sort of debuff, potion sickness was introduced into game. It basically limits you to a single potion per fight. An increase of 20% of total potion effects to a warlock can't be a nicer gift.

Enchanting:

Enchanting is usually regarded as a profitable profession. In fact, enchant a ring for yourself is enjoyable.

Engineering:

Current engineering provides various goggles. High-quality goggles gear up character's status in equipment. However, their advantageous functions fade with the appearance of superior weapon and armor items. Nevertheless, it is valued in providing trinkets and other gadgetry. Engineering anyway has limited power to increase overall attributes of a character.

Inscription:

Inscription is open to all players in patch 3.0. In our opinion, exactly like Enchanting, we categorize it into the profitable "Production" professions which will be relatively low in gains of ability. Note that at level 70, off-hand books by inscription will benefit a warlock. Additionally, enchanted cloak by inscription is also a pretty good choice.

Jewelcrafting:

will become a very beneficial profession for a level 80 warlock enhancing all attributes with specially made gems.

Blacksmithing:

A warlock never uses such profession, thus not recommended.

Leatherworking:

Also not recommended as a class wearing cloth.

Tailoring:

Strongly recommended as a warlock's profession. Epic cloth made by tailoring enhances a warlock's ability enormously. Meanwhile, as a tailor, he/she can obain Fel thread and advanced attribute like wrist enchantment. These advantages are all irreplaceable.

Suggested preference in Profession selection:

Tailoring> Jewelcrafting > Inscription > Alchemy > Enchanting> Engineering > Herbalism > Leatherworking > Blacksmithing >Other gathering ones.
