How to Choose Professions

From TBC expansion, each profession can make epic items or gears for the players that can only use by themselves. So choose the proper trade skill can provide very good improvement. The followings are the improvement you can get by each profession.

Mining: Increase 300 HP
Skinning: Increase Crit Chance by 15 Points
Herbalism: Regenerate 1200 HP within 5 sec, 3 minutes cooldown.

The above three collection skills can only increase basic attributes. Comparing with trade skills collection skills really don't offer too many bonuses. The purpose of choosing collection skill is not for gear improvement, it's just for making more gold.

Alchemy:

Alchemy is good choice for Restoration Shaman. After 3.0 patch, you can only drink one portion of Mana or HP during the fight. Therefore, Redeemer's Alchemist Stone become very important for healing class. If you want to be a Restoration Shaman, Alchemy is recommended.

Enchanting:

Enchanting has been considered as a trade skill that can make lots of money. Now you can enchant ring for yourself. But Shaman, ring can not do to much help for fighting. So this is not a useful skill.

Engineering:

Goggles with different styles are the most useful stuff made by Engineering. A high quality goggle can improve your gear level a lot at early game stage. Along with more Epic gears at end game stage, the importance of Engineering is decreased. Engineering can also produce stuff with special functions. This profession can improve your overall ability.

Inscription:

Inscription is now available in 3.0 patch. It is very similar to Enchanting. This is also a trade skill can make money, and therefore it can do less improvement. Inscription can only work on off-hand weapon at level 70, considering Shaman's off-hand is Shield, You shouldn't learn this profession if you have expectations on improving your gear.

Jewelcrafting:

This is a very good skill that can making money and improving yourself. Gems and trinkets that made for Jewelcrafters are also very useful for Shaman. Like other skills than can making money, Jewlrycrafting has limitation to improve the basic attributes, but somehow better than Enchanting and Inscription. Jewlrycarfting can also make money quicker than any other professions. Therefore, this Profession is recommended for Shanman.

Blacksmithing:

Enhancement Shaman can be benefited a lot. For Physical classes, a good weapon is much more worthy than other equipments. The shortcoming for this profession is that the profession is going to cost you a lot of money. So if you are not rich or you are not so mean to be Enhancement Shamon, take cautious step with this Profession.

Leatherworking:

Dragonscale Leatherworking is perfect trade skill for Shaman. While leveling, you can always make gear for yourself. After reaching to 80, there are two special set gears for leatherworkers themselves who are Enhancement Shamans and Elemental Shamans. Compare with other professions, Leatherworking is the best profession for Shaman.

Tailoring:

Tailoring can not do any good for Shaman, no Shaman will learn this profession.

Recommendation Order:

leatherworking > Alchemy = Blacksmithing > Jewelcrafting > Engineering > Inscription = Enchanting > Collection Skills
